We offer comprehensive cost-effective first aid and CPR courses to all individuals – whether undergraduates in the medical field or the lay person. The courses, which include a theoretical and practical component, are conducted by a team of experienced instructors and academics in the field of emergency medical services.

First Aid Courses

First Aid Level 1

The level 1 course is ideal for anyone who wants to learn basic first aid, and includes study material on:

  • How to use an AED

  • Soft tissue injury
  • Asthma

The basic course is ideally tailored toward recommended workplace practice.

First Aid Level 2

The level 2 programme is a comprehensive course aimed at providing individuals with a more advanced level of first aid competency, and includes study material on:

  • How to use an AED
  • Broken bones
  • Burns
  • Soft tissue injury

The comprehensive course allows persons to be a qualified workplace first aider as per guidelines.

 

First Aid Level 3

The level 3 course allows individuals to become more proficient and confident in the practical application of their skills. The course covers further in-depth scenarios, and includes study material on:

  • Principles of first aid and safety, scene management and ethics
  • Primary survey, artificial respiration CPR and AED (BLS)
  • Secondary survey
  • Pediatric care and assessment
  • Head, face and eye injuries
  • Spinal injuries
  • Musculoskeletal injuries
  • Chest injuries
  • Abdominal injuries
  • Bleeding, wounds and soft tissue injuries
  • Unconsciousness
  • Respiratory Emergencies
  • Shock
  • Choking (BLS)
  • Diabetes
  • Epilepsy
  • Environmental illness and injury
  • Anaphylactic shock
  • Skin reaction
  • Poisoning, stings and bites

  • Cardiovascular disorders – AMI (Heart attacks) and CVA (Stroke)

  • Use of a barrier device and a pocket CPR mask

  • Use of a blood pressure cuff and stethoscope

  • Spinal immobilization – use of a spine board/scoop, spider harness and head blocks and base plate

The theoretical and practical intensive programme is ideally suited for potential EMS employees.
